Worst smell

Is there a smell that we can all agree is just horrible? Yes. A British survey found the smell of a wet dog is something we can do without. Wet dog beat out "cheesy socks" as the top stink. 

The survey, brought to you by Febreze (shocker!), also discovered that we all LOVE the smell of baked bread fresh out of the oven. Men ranked "cooked bacon" high on their list while women prefer the sniff of newly washed sheets.

Coffee keeps skin cancer away

Three cups of coffee a day cuts a woman's risk of skin cancer by 20%, according to a new, glorious study. The cut was to the risk of basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer. There was no reduction to melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer. 

So in the last month, we've discovered coffee can reduce the risk of depression, and now skin cancer. Is this the steamy fountain of youth we've been searching for???

Is Facebook ruining your marriage?

According to divorce lawyers, Facebook is now cited in one in five of every U.S. divorce cases. 80% of lawyers say social media is becoming the diving board for extramarital affairs. The reason, according to The Stir, is simple -- "online media" is a "safe haven to hide from actual, real-life problems, which is precisely what Facebook offers you." 

What's your take? Can otherwise healthy relationships suffer because of Facebook, or are people who were prone to cheat anyway finding what they need on social media?

    Dina Lohan tells X17 Online, "The photo shoot went well."

    According to reports, Lindsay will appear on the cover and get paid nearly $1 million for the shoot. Playboy, however, isn't talking. The magazine says, "We aren't commenting."

    MICHAEL JACKSON IS TOP-EARNING DEAD CELEB

    Michael Jackson is once again the top-earning dead celebrity, according to Forbes magazine. The singer, who died in 2009, took in $170 million between October 2010 and October 2011. That also puts him at number-two among living pop acts. Only U2 earned more since October 2010.

    Elvis Presley, who's been dead for 34 years, remained in second with $55 million. Elizabeth Taylor is a newcomer to the list, earning $12 million over the last year.

    MICHAEL JACKSON TRIAL: NURSE TESTIFIES

    Michael Jackson's former nurse testified yesterday that the singer demanded she provide him with propofol.

    Cherilyn Lee said she tried to treat Jackson's insomnia with natural remedies, but he insisted that only a propofol-like drug could work. Lee said she had never heard of propofol, but after looking it up she warned Jackson not to use it.

    Dr. Conrad Murray is accused of administering a fatal dose of propofol to Jackson.

    Lee's testimony was briefly stopped after she complained of feeling dizzy and burst into tears in the courtroom hallway. She returned to the stand soon after.

    Also taking the stand yesterday was AEG Live president Brandon Phillips and toxicologist Michael Henson.

    
    EDDIE MURPHY: I'M GOING TO BE THE "WORST" OSCAR HOST EVER

    Eddie Murphy might be his own worst critic.

    The upcoming Oscar host tells Entertainment Tonight, "I think it's so funny that people think I'm the perfect for this. I'm going to be horrendous... I'm going to be the worst host ever."

    He adds, "I'm going to wear a powdered sky-blue tuxedo and at the end of the evening I'm going to urinate on myself in front of a billion people."

    
    OBSESSED MADONNA FAN SENT TO MENTAL HOSPITAL

    The obsessed fan who broke into Madonna's London home has been sent to a British mental hospital. Gregorz Matlock has also been ordered to stay at least 100 meters away from the singer-actress and any of her properties. Matlock admitted in court that he traveled from his native Poland to the U.K., to try and enter Madonna's house. There, he stole a can of Red Bull and rifled through her clothes.

    SHIA LaBEOUF'S DAD ONCE JAILED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE

    Does Shia LaBeouf get his hot temper from his dad?

    The actor has made headlines for his violent outbursts, and now Star magazine reveals that his father, Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf, spent time in jail in the early 1980s for attempted rape.

    Since then, the elder LaBeouf has been accused of several violent crimes, including sexually harassing an actress on the set of Shia's Disney show Even Stevens.

    Earlier this month, Shia got into a bar fight in Vancouver. A crew member on Shia's new film told the Chicago Sun-Times, "He's like Sean Penn. One moment he can be totally charming, and then he'll lose it and go off on someone -- especially when it's a nut in a bar who is looking for a fight."

    • The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco has gotten engaged to Josh 'Lazie' Resnik, an addiction specialist, People magazine reports.
    • Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are parents -- of a puppy. The couple adopted a husky mix named Baylor in Winnipeg, Canada over the weekend.

  After four weeks and 33 witnesses, the prosecution rested its case yesterday in the Dr. Conrad Murray trial.

  Murray is accused of administering a fatal dose of propofol to Michael Jackson.

  The singer's longtime physician Allan Metzger testified that Jackson once begged him for an anesthetic to sleep. The doctor said, "He asked me about intravenous sleep medicines. He used the word 'juice.' I don't think he mentioned the word of a specific sleep medication. [Jackson] did not believe any oral medicine would be helpful."

  The defense also called to the witness stand Beverly Hills PD Communications Director Donna Norris, LAPD detectives Dan Myers and Orlando Martinez, and Jackson's personal nurse Cherilyn Lee.

  Closing statements are expected to begin early next week.

  
  THE REAL REASON JENNIFER LOPEZ BROKE DOWN

  Why did Jennifer Lopez break down at her weekend concert?

  She tells Extra that it had nothing to do with Marc Anthony. It was the sight of her mom in the audience during a performance of "Until It Beats No More" that did it. The singer says, "I didn't see her the whole time until this one moment, and I was a bit emotional."

  As for having dancers re-enact scenes with some of the men from her past, Lopez says she "wanted to do a section of the show that talked about love [and] different moments in my life."

  
  ASHTON, DEMI REUNITE

  Finally Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have been spotted together.

  Demi hung out with her hubby on the set of Two and a Half Men Friday. It's the first time the couple has been seen together since rumors began swirling that Ashton was unfaithful. A source tells Us Weekly, "[Ashton] put his arm around Demi and they acted like a couple. They were talking and smiling at each other. Everything seemed just like normal."

  A source close to Demi says that "she loves him, but can't forgive him for the embarrassment he has caused."

  
  DARRELL HAMMOND WAS CRACK ADDICT

  In a new book, former SNL star Darrell Hammond reveals that he was once addicted to alcohol and crack.

  In his autobiography God, If You're Not Up There, I'm F-----, he writes, "I kept a pint of Remy in my desk at work. The drinking calmed my nerves and quieted the disturbing images in my head...when drinking didn't work, I cut myself."

  In 2009, during his 14th season of SNL, he relapsed and writes that he "had the brilliant idea I should try crack." He then spent time in a Harlem crack house.

  
  LINDSAY DOING PLAYBOY?

  Is Lindsay Lohan baring it all for Playboy?

  Word has it the troubled starlet is taking part in a secret photo shoot -- and it's allegedly for a spread in the men's mag. Her rep tells E! News, "I can neither confirm nor deny at this time," but TMZ reports that LiLo will be paid nearly $1 million to show her goods.

  Eddie Murphy isn't nervous about hosting next year's Oscars. The comedian says, "Oscars is a fun thing to do. I don't feel the pressure. I get to introduce people and stand up straight. Maybe I'll be in a couple silly sketches or something."

  Murphy, whose last hosting gig was at the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards, said he accepted the Oscar offer because he "never got to it. I've only been to the Oscars two or three times in 30 years."

  • Frankie Muniz has gotten engaged to his longtime girlfriend, publicist Elycia Marie Turnbow. The couple, you'll recall, was involved in a much-publicized domestic brawl earlier this year.
  • Robin Williams married graphic designer Susan Schneider Sunday in Northern California. It was his third trip down the aisle. The comedian has three children from his first two marriages.
  • Once Upon a Time has gotten off to a strong start. The ABC show gathered 12.8 millions viewers Sunday night. That was the highest rated drama premiere this season.
  • Morgan Wilson, a finalist from the first season of Top Chef: Just Desserts, has been charged with possession and intent to distribute child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in jail.

There's an interesting study out of Ohio State that discovered couples who argue and fight in the beginning, will continue to argue and fight throughout their marriage. On the flip side, couples that get along well in the beginning, will most likely stay that way. Here's the interesting part -- "fighting" doesn't equal "unhappy." In fact, as one of the researchers put it, "there is a lot of stability in conflict. Bottom line: "If you're finding it difficult to live with the level of conflict before you get married, you probably shouldn't get married."   Paranormal Activity 3 scared up a record-breaking weekend at the box office. The sequel's $54-million haul was the highest-grossing domestic debut for a horror film and a record for an October release. The flick was made for only $5 million.

  • Real Steel, which had been number-one for two straight weeks, dropped to second with $11.3 million.
  • Footloose went from second to third with $10.9 million.
  • The Three Musketeers opened in fourth with $8.8 million.
  • And The Ides of March fell a slot to fifth with $4.9 million.

  
  LINDSAY LOHAN FINALLY MAKES IT TO MORGUE

  A day after getting turned away for tardiness, Lindsay Lohan arrived 90 minutes early to the L.A. County morgue on Friday.

  As part of her new community service assignment, Linds washed dirty linens, scrubbed toilets and cleaned floors. TMZ says she felt "terrible" about being late on Thursday so she went to bed early that night and arrived at the morgue at 5:30 a.m. for her 7 a.m. starting time. She even had burgers and gourmet cupcakes delivered to say sorry, but morgue officials reportedly refused the food.

  Lindsay's rep said, "It is unfortunate that Lindsay's well-intentioned actions were not taken in the spirit in which she intended; to say she was sorry for yesterday's misunderstanding."

  
  MICHAEL JACKSON TRIAL: KEY WITNESS CROSS-EXAMINED

  Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers attacked the prosecution's key witness Friday.

  Dr. Steven Shafer had testified that the "only scenario" to explain Michael Jackson's death was that he overdosed on propofol administered by Dr. Murray. But defense attorney Ed Chernoff told Shafer, "Everything you said in the last two days was your opinion. You do understand that, right? Do you understand that?"

  After the defense finishes its cross-examination of Shafer, which will resume today, the prosecution is expected to rest its case and let the defense present its case.

  Before testimony began Friday, Judge Pastor admonished Dr. Paul White, a potential witness for the defense. Thursday Dr. White was heard using the word "scumbag" inside the courtroom, possibly in reference to Shafer or prosecutor David Walgren. A hearing has been set for November 16th to determine whether White's behavior amounts to contempt of court.

  JANET JACKSON RESCHEDULES AUSSIE DATES TO BE WITH FAMILY

  Janet Jackson is putting her shows scheduled in Australia this week on hold to be with her family during the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray.

  Janet 's Number Ones tour was set to hit Melbourne on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Instead, she'll play one night on November 3rd at the Rod Laver Arena.

  Janet said in a statement to The Associated Press, "After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now...This saddens me in so many ways."

  
  MADONNA'S BROTHER IS HOMELESS

  Madonna's brother Anthony Ciccone is homeless and living under a bridge.

  The 55-year-old tells the Michigan Messenger, "My family turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time."

  Anthony had been working at his father's winery, which sells Madonna Wine, until he was fired more than a year ago.

  Anthony says, "You think I haven't answered this kind of question a bazillion times -- why my sister is a multi-bazillionaire, and I'm homeless on the street? Never say never. This could happen to anybody."

  He says he collects cans for money and relies on churches for food.

  Madonna, who has seven siblings, has homes in London, Los Angeles and New York City.

  
  KIM KARDASHIAN CAST IN TYLER PERRY MOVIE

  Kim Kardashian has been cast in Tyler Perry's upcoming film The Marriage Counselor, Deadline.com reports.

  The reality star will play the co-worker of a newlywed marriage counselor in the flick, which starts filming next week in Atlanta.

  Kim has appeared on the big screen before -- in the comedies Disaster Movie and Deep in the Valley -- but this will be her most substantial role to date.

  J.LO BREAKS DOWN ON STAGE

  Things got a bit emotional for Jennifer Lopez during her performance Saturday night in Connecticut.

  J. Lo, who recently split from husband Marc Anthony, told the audience at Mohegan Sun, "I'm going to sing you the last song I wrote about love." Then she launched into "Until It Beats No More" while dancers re-enacted scenes with her and some of the men from her past -- which included Diddy, Cris Judd, Ben Affleck and MarcAnthony look-alikes. After the song, she said, "I took a trip down memory lane," and then started to cry as the crowd applauded.

  Ashton Kutcher rants about honesty in the media in a new online video.

  The actor, who's been accused of cheating on wife Demi Moore, says that in the digital age "there is no gatekeeper of the truth. We are our own editors, and we are our own publishers. We are our own printers. Thereby people can bastardize the truth in any way, shape or form they want and spread that around the world." He ends the video, posted on his chime.in account, by calling for a sense of responsibility.

  Snooki has gotten an apology from a website that falsely published a story that the Jersey Shore star was arrested in a marijuana bust. Men Are Funnier Than Women -- Isn't That Hilarious?

A psychologist at U.C. San Diego found that women it comes to humor, men have an edge -- but it's a tiny one. Even though 90% of both men and women agree with the stereotype that men are funnier, a test found that the difference was tiny, a .11 edge on a 5.0 scale. 

 The test involved a group of men and women in caption writing contest. The captions were then rated by another group of 34 men and 47 women. The results proved 2 things -- men only have a slight edge on funny, and men laugh REALLY hard at jokes written... by other men.

• LINDSAY LOHAN LATE TO MORGUE, SENT HOME

  A day after taking a tongue lashing from a judge, Lindsay Lohan arrived late to her new community service assignment at the L.A. County Morgue and was turned away.

  Her publicist claimed Lindsay was 40 minutes "due to a combination of not knowing the entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival."

  Lindsay tweeted, "With all of the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I've never been so happy to go to therapy!!! Also, I'm sorry for the confusion that I may of caused to those at the Coroner's office. Won't happen again, now I know where to go!"

  After getting booted from her last community service assignment at the Downtown Women's Center for not showing up nine times, the judge revoked her probation. She was required to put in 16 hours at the morgue by November 2nd, when it will be determined if she has violated her probation.

  MICHAEL JACKSON TRIAL: PROSECUTION READY TO REST CASE

  Propofol expert Dr. Steven Shafer spent his second day on the witness stand yesterday in the MichaelJackson trial.

  Shafer demonstrated how Dr. Conrad Murray could have infused the anesthetic into a vein in Jackson's leg to help him sleep.

  Shafer also blasted the theory that Jackson gave himself the fatal dose of the drug. "People don't wake up...hell-bent to give themselves another dose," he said. "It's a crazy scenario."

  Shafer is the prosecution's final witness. Murray's defense attorneys are expected to cross-examine him today, and then begin their own case.

  
  KARDASHIANS FLATTERED THAT THE OBAMAS WATCH THEIR SHOW

  The Kardashians are far from insulted after learning that the President won't allow his daughters to watch their reality show. A source tells Us Weekly that Kim, Kourtney and Khloe are actually "flattered" that Mr. and Mrs.Obama themselves have tuned in to their escapades.

  HILARY DUFF PLANS TO RECORD ALBUM AFTER GIVING BIRTH

  Hilary Duff knows what she wants to do after giving birth. The star, who's four-and-a-half months along, wants to make an album. She tells E! Online, "I think that after I have the baby, I'll want to sit still for a few months and learn how to be a really good mom and then there's no reason why I can't put a record out and tour... It might take a little while, but I'm really excited about it."

  
  GIULIANA RANCIC UNDERGOES BREAST CANCER SURGERY

  E! News host Giuliana Rancic, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, has undergone a double lumpectomy.

  In an interview with the Today show yesterday, her husband Bill Rancic said she had cancerous growths in both breasts removed and that doctors also removed lymph nodes they believed may have been affected.

  Bill said, "Giuliana is a trouper. She pulled through it. She's relieved to have it over with and get the cancer out. She's doing well at home and recovering -- and I'm adding nurse to my resume. She's having fun with that."
